In our fast-paced lives, maintenance is essential. We diligently care for our homes, cars, and other possessions, yet we often neglect the most important maintenance of all—our own self-care. It’s easy to overlook until something goes wrong, but it might be too late by then. We frequently prioritize the needs of our loved ones over our own, but to truly care for others, maintaining our well-being is crucial. When we take care of ourselves, we have the energy and vitality to support those around us without sacrificing our health. Establishing proper boundaries is vital for the well-being of both ourselves and others. That's why Reiki, self-care, physical and mental maintenance is so important
As a Reiki Master and Life Coach with years of experience, I've noticed that highly empathic individuals often struggle with this balance. Compassion, empathy, and a giving heart are beautiful traits, but without balance, they can lead to burnout. If left unchecked, this depletion can result in illness or disease, as the body loses its energy reserves and its ability to maintain balance. In my practice, I frequently see this issue, especially in our stress-filled society.
How often do I need Reiki?
Reiki is one of the most comprehensive, pleasant, and non-invasive forms of self-care available. It promotes balance in mind, body, emotions, and spirit, with no adverse side effects. Even if you're feeling healthy, regular Reiki sessions can boost your immunity and maintain your overall balance. For those in good health, I recommend a Reiki treatment every 4 to 6 weeks to keep your system operating at its best.
If you’re preparing for surgery or any invasive medical procedure, Reiki can be beneficial both before and after. Receiving Reiki before surgery strengthens your immunity and resilience, helping you endure the procedure and heal more effectively. Post-surgery, Reiki can accelerate recovery, reducing pain and swelling.
For those facing physical challenges or dealing with depression, anxiety, stress, grief, or trauma, more frequent sessions are recommended. Depending on the severity of your condition, weekly to bi-weekly treatments are advisable for optimal recovery. As your health improves, you can gradually reduce the frequency of sessions to the maintenance level of every 4 to 6 weeks. This gradual approach ensures a more effective and sustainable recovery.
For chronic or more advanced illnesses, or for hospice patients, more intensive Reiki treatments—1 to 2 times per week—may be necessary to provide comfort and support.
